As you probably already know, autoclaves are devices utilized to sterilize equipment or instruments through the use of steam and high temperatures. Even tough my site is about dentistry, the use of an autoclave sterilizer extends to all areas of the practice of medicine and other industries.
In Medicine the main goal is to keep the reusable instruments (surgical, laboratory, etc) free of pathogens such as bacteria, fungi, viruses, etc.

I personally use one of the most recent versions which come with a built-in printer that gives me documentation about the temperatures during the sterilization process, possible errors or interruptions that can flash any potential risk for contamination. It just gives me peace of mind, and yes, I like fancy gadgets in my practice.
